The History Behind Corporation 1952 The company now known as The IKONICS Corporation, began as ChromaGlo, Inc., a screen printing operation concentrating on the precision printing of metalized labels with a unique glow characteristic that made the labels more visible and therefore more attractive to its manufacturing clientele. 1964 ChromaGlo developed and patented a novel photo chemical based printing processthe direct/indirect method, revolutionizing the screen printing process, which had not been fundamentally altered for centuries. 1982 In a move foreshadowing the companys hallmark corporate culture, ChromaGlo, sensing an opportunity to capitalize on a fortuitous combination of new intellectual property and market readiness, altered its business model, morphing from screen printer, to manufacturer/supplier of screen printing stencil products, immediately turning competitors into customers. Reflecting this change, the Chromaline Corporation is born. Within a decade, Chromaline is established as a premier brand in the screen printing industry and a strong commitment to international sales is embraced, paving the way for what is now a full third of IKONICS revenue. 1992 Using similar core photo chemistry technology, the company successfully launches PhotoBrasive Systems, finding immediate success in decorative sand carving within the awards and recognition, signage and personalized gift industries. Within three years, PhotoBrasive Systems leads the world in the engineering, manufacturing and sales of photostencil products in its target markets. 1997 IKONICS develops the first self-adhesive photoresist for sandcarving known as UltraPro. 2000 The Chromaline Corporation, buoyed by record sales in its Chromaline and PhotoBrasive Systems divisions, goes public and is listed on the NASDAQ.
